2010 Road Construction Alerts

Boulder County is starting off the 2010 construction season with a bang, as they replace two bridges along popular cycling routes.  Both bridges are expected to be open to traffic by the end of June with improved facilities for cyclists.

In the meantime, both the 95th Street bridge south of Pike Road in Longmont and the Niwot Road Bridge over the Feeder Canal will be closed to all traffic. Cyclists are urged to use caution around both projects, especially the Niwot Road Bridge Project Updates are available on the county website:  www.BoulderCounty.org/transportation

63rd Street CLOSED south of Highway 119 (Diagonal Highway). May 2 – May 11.  63rd Street will be closed at the BNSF Railroad tracks for track replacement for ten days starting at 7:00 AM, SUNDAY, MAY 2.  All access across the tracks will be prohibited including bicycles and pedestrians. The track replacement is part of the 63rd / Highway 119 Intersection project that when finished will include bicycle shoulders from the north side of the intersection to Lookout Road. Originally scheduled to extend through the end of August, the intersection project is now expected to be complete by early July due to the road closure decision. Cyclists will need to detour north to 71st Street or south to Jay Road during the closure.

Please use caution when riding and remember, “Courtesy is Contagious!”
