To date, the Club has had no accident insurance claims, and we are working hard to preserve that record with trained Ride Leaders, ride safety policies, vetting all routes for safety, and League of American Bicyclist training for Club leaders.   However, to protect members in case of an accident, the Club has participant accident insurance through Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company.   It is arranged by the League of American Cyclists for member clubs. The accident medical coverage is $10,000 per person excess of a $500 per claim deductible and excess of any other valid and collectible insurance. It also includes accidental death and dismemberment insurance of $5,000 per person per accident. Covered activities include recreational bicycle rides that are organized, conducted, and supervised by an insured club and involve club members and first-time invited guests. Club meetings and conventional fundraisers are also covered activities. Over 500 League of American Bicyclists clubs use this insurance.
